History of the State Preschool Program

This State Preshool Program offers a three-hour educational program for children ages three and four years old.  These programs are located at early education centers, elementary schools, middle schools and adult schools.  They provide personalized learning experiences before the children enter kindergarten.

Program Enrollment

A family must complete an application and provide supporting documentation demonstrating eligibility for State Preschool.

The State Preschool Program Curriculum

The State Preschool instructional program is based on best practices of child development.  Our curriculum also emphasizes oral language, early math skills, and early literacy development.  Staff plan and provides activities and experiences through projects and themes that reflect the cultures of the children and relate to all curriculum areas.  Children are encouraged to express self-reliance, make choices, initiate their own activities, and solve problems.  Staff provides children with developmentally appropriate activities in an appealing and nurturing environment that is structured to best meet children's need.
